"I’ve lived nearby most of my life and can’t believe I had never visited before. As the only remaining observatory of its kind in the country—and the first one ever built in the United States—it offers a fascinating glimpse into Portland’s maritime history. We learned how ships were monitored and managed entering Portland Harbor in the 1800s, and the history was both interesting and well-presented. Marc was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable and engaging throughout the tour. The views from the top were beautiful and made for some great photos. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a great activity for anyone looking for something different to do or interested in learning more about Portland's history."
